“Fantastic super friendly staff made us feel like part of the family from the moment we arrived. Warm and cosy lodge run by amazingly friendly people who were only so happy to be able to help. Will stay again and will recommend to anyone.”

“The hosts at Sekkasai were fabulous. They shifted my reservation by a day when I had rail pass problems. They shuttled me around, lent me a pair of gum boots for the extreme snow and in general acted like the hugely kind Japanese grandparents I don't have. Great experience.”

William

“It was a great time here .... Would like to come here again for a ski trip. Owners and staff are really warm and nice people. Guided us about nearby onsen locations.”

SEKKASAI
TRUE JAPANESE-STYLE ACCOMMODATION

Sekkasai is located just down the hill from TOKYU HOTEL in Hakuba’s nicest area, Wadano. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the Happo gondola, a 4 minute walk to the free-shuttle bus hub (buses to Happo, Goryu/47,Iwatake) and there are tons of restaurants bars and onsens nearby.

The lodge itself is beautiful, with big wooden beams, a wood-burning stove, and tasteful Japanese décor. The bedrooms come in two styles, Japanese tatami mat or western bunk bed. The tatami rooms have comfortable futon sets to sleep on while the bunk rooms have triple bunk beds with the option of a 4th person on a futon set.

HAKUBA VALLEY

It is the central hub for 10 ski resorts.

Hakuba is a ski resort town in the northern Japan Alps. As the surrounding valley has an annual snow fall of over 11.1 meters, it is the central hub for 10 ski resorts with more than 200 runs. The village was the main event venue for 1998 Winter Olympics (Alpine, Ski Jump, Crosscountry).

Unlike many other Japanese resorts Hakuba offers access to huge, open backcountry terrain – the start of the extensive Japanese Alps. The highest mountainous region in Japan. So you can mix up the ridiculously good tree skiing with big, steep burly 1000m vertical lines! It’s only a 4 hour train ride from Tokyo too!
